The Capilano Suspension Bridge, 450 feet (137 m) long and 230 feet (70 m) high, has its doors open to visitors since 1889. While the wobbly bridge and stunning location is a Vancouver landmark, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park offers an all-encompassing BC experience. History, culture and nature are presented in unique and thrilling ways.
The bridge was originally built in 1889 by George Mackay, a Scottish civil engineer and park commissioner for Vancouver. Also, the bridge was completely rebuilt in 1956.
Annual attendance increased, and in May 2004, Treetops Adventures was opened, consisting of seven footbridges suspended between old-growth Douglas Fir trees on the west side of the canyon, forming a walkway up to 30 metres (98 ft) above the forest floor.
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Vancouver, British Columbia. The reason is simple, there are so many things to see and do!
